Clyde Thompson, 51, of Chatham Township, discusses how literacy tutoring through Project: LEARN has helped him. Thompson grew up in West Virginia in the Allegheny Mountains where three grades were combined in one classroom‚Äö first through third in one class, fourth through sixth in another and so on. "In the reading period, they would have us read. Well then, when it got back to me and they seen I was having trouble, so they jumped over me to the next person and let them read," Thompson said. His school hired a tutor when Thompson was in the third grade, by which time Thompson though it was "too little, too late." Not anymore.
